Infraplus Consulting was engaged to deliver Low Level Design (LLD) for the fiber network installation in Illinois, USA, which spans 82 miles and covers 6700 home passes. The project was designed for multiple cities, including Bethalto, East Alton, Godfrey, Belleville, Collinsville, and New Baden.

The design process began with the verification of addresses using Streetview and verifying the FDH boundaries and input data. Infraplus worked with provided data, including FDH boundaries, FDH locations, and addresses, to map the fiber network layout.

The LLD included designing various layers, such as conduit, fiber cable, and handholes. Infraplus placed handholes of varying sizes (24x26x24, 17x30x24, 30x48x36) along the lot lines. The design also included the placement of Drop Handholes, Traffic management features, and FDH (Fiber Distribution Hub) locations. For fiber distribution, Infraplus utilized dual duct systems of 2x1.25 HDPE and fiber splice closures like OFDC 450A to ensure seamless connectivity and reliability.

Infraplus also designed the network's connectivity, from Feeder hubs to Distribution hubs, and from Distribution hubs to Drop Hubs, optimizing the layout for fiber blowing and ensuring all routes were connected with precision. The project’s final stage involved populating all design attributes according to project guidelines, naming fibers and ducts, and preparing the construction prints.

Finally, Infraplus provided the Bill of Materials (BoM) in Excel, detailing the material requirements for each stage of the project, ensuring efficient procurement and construction.

Scope of Work:

1. Address Verification & Data Preparation:
- Verify addresses using Streetview and adjust fiber routes accordingly
- Confirm FDH boundaries, locations, and other input data
- Review HLD (High Level Design) and modify routes for optimal connectivity
2. Network Design & Planning:
- Design fiber network layers, including conduit, fiber cable, and handhole placement
- Plan fiber routes and ensure optimal path between Feeder Hubs, Distribution Hubs, and Drop Hubs
- Design Dual Duct systems and splicing closures (OFDC 450A) for fiber connectivity
3. Fiber Connectivity & Equipment Placement:
- Place fiber hubs and splice closures at strategic points in the network
- Design Drop Handholes for proper fiber connectivity from Distribution Hubs to premises
- Utilize ArcGIS Pro for planning and mapping fiber connectivity
4. Data Management & Construction Prints:
- Populate all design attributes (e.g., Fiber, Ducts, Handholes) in the design layers
- Generate construction prints in PDF format for field installation
- Bill of Materials (BoM) in Excel for material procurement and installation planning

Complete Low-Level Design (LLD) in ArcGIS Pro, covering fiber routes, conduits, and handhole placement
Construction prints in PDF for network installation
Shapefiles for the fiber design, including all network layers and attributes
