Infraplus Consulting was appointed to provide Low Level Design (LLD) services for the fiber optic network in Savannah, USA, covering a total of 36,000 home passes across 378 miles. This project was executed in multiple states, including Ardmore, Montgomery, Windsor Forest, Avondale, Midtown, and Paradise Park.

The project began with the receipt of High-Level Design (HLD) data and input files such as Hut Location, Aerial Image in ECW format, HLD Address, and Polygon data. Infraplus utilized ArcGIS Pro to design the network and verify all passing locations and routes based on the feasibility and guidelines provided by the client.

The design included the placement of Drop Hubs or Distribution Hubs in each polygon, ensuring effective fiber connectivity and compliance with the required network standards. Huts (cabinets), Middle Mile Points, splice closures, conduits, and handholes were carefully designed and placed to establish a clear fiber path from feeder hubs to distribution hubs, and from distribution hubs to drop hubs.

After the design phase in ArcGIS Pro, the data was transferred to Vetro for detailed fiber splicing and tracing, followed by the final equipment configuration in Corning. This multi-step process ensured optimal fiber network planning and seamless connectivity.

Scope of Work:

1. Fiber Network Design & Planning:
- Start with HLD input data and verify passing locations
- Design polygons according to capacity and guidelines
- Place Drop Hubs or Distribution Hubs based on the network’s needs
- Design fiber routes, connectivity from feeder hubs to distribution hubs and drop hubs
2. GIS & Splicing Data Management:
- Import input data into ArcGIS Pro
- Create fiber network layers, including Hut (cabinet), splicing closures, conduits, and handholes
- Ensure fiber paths and routes are accurately mapped and compliant with client specifications
3. Fiber Splicing & Equipment Configuration:
- Splicing and tracing in Vetro, ensuring connectivity
- Configure equipment in Corning based on project specifications and requirements
- Optimize fiber installation routes, ensuring reliable and scalable connectivity
